Webinar :: Zero Waste Hospitals

Exemplary Hospital Zero Waste Programs

Presented by: Kimball Sustainable Healthcare, in partnership with SF Environment

Implementing zero waste in hospitals can be challenging and requires a thoughtful strategy, standard processes, and continuous quality improvement. KSH works with the City of San Francisco’s Environment Department to convene hospitals in sharing challenges and best practices, understanding services offered by Recology, the City’s waste hauler, and ensuring compliance with the City’s zero waste requirements and Climate Action Plan goals. This online workshop showcases two programs from opposite sides of the country - one focused primarily on strategy and engagement and the other on operations - to inspire participants on strategies and practices they can employ to build more effective zero waste programs. Our presenters share their strategies and best practices for building effective zero waste programs. Contact us If you’re interested in exploring how KSH can help your hospital achieve Zero Waste.

Presenters: Avery Palardy, Climate and Sustainability Director, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston, MA, and Michael Geller, Sustainability Program Manager at Providence Oregon in Portland, OR.

Webinar :: Green Thinking Series

Advancing the Circular Economy in Healthcare

Presented by: Busch Systems and Kimball Sustainable Healthcare

Hard-to-recycle, single-use supplies, packaging and devices have become a defining feature of the healthcare system. Economic and safety concerns and a “culture of convenience” has long stymied efforts to reduce the flood of items like disposable gowns, never-used surgical instruments and endless volumes of blue wrap. This webinar, featuring KSH CEO, Erika Kimball, as well as other experts from UCLA Health and OSU’s Wexner Medical Center, reviews key elements of an effective implementation strategy for reusable and reprocessable clinical items as well as case studies from several successful programs.

Moderator: Alec Cooley, Senior Advisor @ Busch Systems
